Viv is rather fond of her sandbox. Unfortunately the weather here has been a little wet and cold to let her get in a lot. Tomorrow is supposed to be near 70 and sunny, so hopefully we can get her out some.


We also went to the aquarium again today. She's gotten big on pointing lately.

Christmas

Sorry I haven't posted for a bit, x-mas and all the running about has kept us pretty busy. Viv made out like a bandit on presents- I'm going to need to build another shed just keep all of it in. Here's a short video and some pictures.

Santa Claus

It wasn't all bad news yesterday. We took Viv to go see Santa and she didn't even get too upset when she was plopped on his lap. I'm going to spend a chunk of tomorrow finishing up her sandbox then we need to do some baking for x-mas day.

some sad news

Angus passed away today. He turned 15 earlier this month, a ripe old age for any dog let alone a retriever. He had a pretty interesting life though. He's hiked all over southern Illinois, through the mountains of southern New Mexico and all over Washington state. He survived two rounds of major surgery for things that would killed lesser dogs and he always came out with his tail wagging. I'm really going to miss him and I can't tell you how sad I am that Viv isn't going to get to grow up with a dog as happy and sweet as Angus. She couldn't understand why we wouldn't let her pet him after we found him passed away on the back porch and it really broke my heart. I buried him next to Bear.

We have a Santa photo as well, but I'm going to put up a picture of Angus tonight. This is from when he was a youngster and I've put it up before, but it really is one of his best pics.

Zoo

Kathy has been out of town the past few days so Viv and I (her dad, that is) have been tooling about town. Today we went to the zoo. Here's a little video:

#2 update

We saw the ultrasound doc again today and everything looks great with #2.

Anyway, here's a pic of Viv:

Chilly

It's gotten a bit chilly here the past few days, it might even get down to freezing tonight. At any rate, we finally decorated the x-mas tree tonight and we also took Viv caroling at Jackson square. I have some video I'm working on posting, but as usual the blog software engine is giving me hell about it. I'm trying to work it out tonight but it's getting a bit late so maybe I'll put it up tomorrow.

Grape Juice and Decorating the Cat

Viv has gotten pretty good at drinking out of a cup herself, but she still has this bad habit of turning the cup upside and shaking it all over. This usually ends up with her covered in some miscellaneous sticky juice. Hence the diaper and socks look.




She's also taken up the hobby of decorating the cat. She'll use pretty much whatever is at hand (a kleenex in this instance).

Linux post #2

I was going to write a blog entry about how much better linux is than windows and bore the hell out of everyone, but gave up on the idea. Instead I'll put up a few screenshots and a few comments-
linux is open-source (=free), no anti-virus software is needed, no trojans or spyware have ever gotten past linux security, and did I mention it's free?


I know that graphically it can't compare to Microsoft systems:


If you really feel that Windows is so much better, you can still run it and let linux handle all that pesky security crap that Microsoft seems unable to deal with (and it will run faster).

Notice the big red lump on Viv's forehead? She decided to dive off the couch this morning and it didn't turn out so well. It's the first time she's taken a serious fall so far but I don't doubt it'll be happening more and more in the future.


It didn't slow her down much though.
