Getting the Hang of Things

Sorry about the lack of updates for the last few days but we're trying to get used to the new evening routine and since I usually post at night it's put a crimp in things. Gus is pretty easy all in all, but try two shuffle two of them off to bed in the evening requires a bit of a coordinated effort.

At any rate, Viv discovered her old swing (now Gus's) this morning then promptly fell asleep in it:

This evening we had a wedding to go to. Gus took it all in stride (he slept the whole time). Viv, on the other hand seemed to have a pretty good time:

I've also been doing a bit of re-jiggering of the server and the computers in the house and playing around with the test blog some more. We've had some problems handling video with this blog and the one I've set up in the house seems to do a better job. It does handle it a bit differently though, instead of the embedded youtube or google video, you get a link you can click that will open up your video player to show the video. The advantage of this is that you can save a copy of the video, which you can't do with embedded video. It also saves me the hassle of having to ship it out to youtube to process and handle the video (and it runs way faster).
Anyway, if you want to check out the video test post just go to test blog.

Trip to the Quarter

The family did a short trip around the quarter today. We made a stop at Cafe Du Mond for beignets and coffee then did a bit of walking around. We had lunch after that and Alice got the margarita she's been craving for months.

In other Gus news, he has his 1 week pediatrican appointment as well as a hearing test tomorrow. He's continuing to be an incredibly easy baby- no fussing or crying and he actually lets us sleep.

I've also done a little more work on the blog on our server in the house. I need to play with the video server capabilities a bit more but all in all it seems a much better way to go than the current blog setup. I'm hoping to get Alice to give it a swing for a test post soon.

Pod Request

In response to a previous anonymous commenter (I suspect it was Maureen Dowd)- here's a Pod picture with Gus.

Tuesday Update

Gus's jaundice is improving. He had another trip to the lab at Touro today and his bilirubin count has dropped 2 points, down to 13.9. It looks like he's out of the woods on this and won't need anything more drastic. Tomorrow we're going to take both of them to the French Quarter in the morning and have some beignets and wander around. He has a hearing test on Thursday and I think we have to go back to the pediatrician on Friday.

Catching Up

We have a bit of a backlog of photos to catch up on. Most of these are from the birth.

In other Gus news, he's still sleeping great and rarely utters more than a peep. He had a blood draw today to check his bilirubin count since he has a bit of jaundice. His levels are a little high but nothing to worry about yet. He's heading back for another test tomorrow and hopefully things will have improved.

No!

So, this morning we asked Viv if she wanted to hold her baby brother and she agreed. When Alice actually set him in her lap, she had a bit of a different response:

I'll get some more pictures of Gus up this evening when I have a little more time, as well as details about how he's doing.

Sunday Morning

All is going well. Alice and I both got a pretty decent night's sleep last night. Gus is sleeping in a 'co-sleeper' by the bed so Alice doesn't have to get up to feed him. He's also about 1000 fold quieter than Viv was at this age. Here's a few pictures from this morning:
