Family nature adventure
We walked the arboretum trail in City Park last weekend, and we managed to last two and a half hours with the kids walking most of the way along side the stroller. We saw egrets, pelicans, and cormorants, along with rocks, acorns, and sticks, the latter of which were equally as exciting to the kids as the former.

Funny kids
The other day Gus was telling me about how he was going to eat shrimp for dinner, and I said "oh that's good - everyone loves shrimp." Then I corrected myself and said that Pod & Noah don't actually like shrimp, and Gus asked, "Why not?" I said, "I don't know. You used to like tomatoes. Why don't you like tomatoes?" Gus said, "Because I'm electric to them, Mommy."
You can't make this stuff up. Today at Whole Foods, Gus decided to bust out in one of his greatest hits, "Old MacDonald Had a Vagina." Loudly. Teach us to explain the differences they ask about in the tub! Then as if to top off Gus's performance, Viv put the serving tongs in her mouth along with her sample cheese cube. "Urm, hi there, my four year old put these in her mouth." In the words of the cheesemonger, "Awesome!"

Ho Ho Ho! Hello Hello Hello!
Who knew that anyone was still looking at this blog!? Well, it turns out that we do have a reader out there after all, and that's all the encouragement I need to get this back off the ground! In fact, Curt has even pledged his help this year now that the dissertation is behind him. So, to make up for lost time, here's the 2010 Santa picture. And by the way, Viv says that this Santa is the REAL Santa, not just one of Santa's helpers. He was by far the jolliest, warmest Santa we have taken them to, so I hope he comes back from the North Pole next year.
