For the last six months or so Vivienne had been saying “no” when we asked her if she wanted to try to use her potty. About a month ago, she finally began to warm up to the idea of trying to use it. So for the last month, we have been putting her on the potty once or twice a day with a snack, a drink, and a movie playing, and eventually she’ll pee. The night before last when Curt was at the grocery, Viv looked up at me and said “I have to pee pee.” So we hurried to the potty, and she
pooped right away! And the same night, right before she went to bed, she told Curt that she needed to use the potty, ran down the hall, sat on her potty, and peed it in! I am excited that she’s beginning to sense in advance that she needs to go. This is seriously big stuff in our house.
Gus has been busy learning new skills too. He’s a master of sitting upright now. He has not quite decided whether he wants to crawl or stand for his next trick, and he constantly wants to practice one of these things. He can almost get into the crawling position from the sitting position, but he just can’t seem to untuck that second leg out from under him yet. He is very close. When he practices standing, he’ll often hold on with only one hand. He sort of sways and rights himself over and over until he falls. Also, Gus just got his sixth tooth this week. It’s barely visible yet, but it can be felt. So he has his four middle teeth up top and his two middle teeth on the bottom.
