How was this a single day?

Before breakfast, posing in the front room.

Gathering the booster seat for Gus.

In front of Bywater Barbeque after our yummy breakfast.

After breakfast, we attempted to hike the Breton Sound bird trail because both times we have tried in the past we were unlucky enough to come during a bad time for the cane break rattle snakes. This time we knew we'd beat them, as it was still pretty cool out (this was the weekend before last), but we found other obstacles. The mosquitos bit the humor out of Curt, and then from the brush we heard the clicking of an unseen alligator. That was enough. This is the lone picture from that attempt, but not of us in the brushy part, which was prettier.

So we took the kids to the little playground in our neighborhood. We witnessed an interesting thing with Vivi's development there. There was a big girl there, "almost 10" she was, and Vivienne was mezmerized. She had silver flats with a bell by the bow, and Vivienne wanted so badly to impress her. Viv followed her around and tried to dazzle her with her new princess tennies that light up. The big girl was polite, but she was completely taken with Gus. So while Viv followed the big girl around trying her darndest to be cute, princessy, and irresistbale, the big girl followed Gus around, fawning over him.

When we got home Viv impressed us with her sense of style. I think we were a little easier to impress than the big girl was.

The kids played outside after all that, but how they had the energy I'll never know.

DUDE! I love Curt's Atari tee! And, the kids are precious as usual. Gus is looking so big boy in the very last shot.

I can't wait to see them, Viv can impress me and Grandpa. I have a feeling Auntie Em and Justin will be a fav with both kids...
