High Tide and Green Grass

For those of you familiar with the river normally looks like by our house, here's a couple of pictures that should impress you:

The Corp of Engineers opened the Bonnet Carre spillway today (only the eighth time since it was built after the 1927 flood) as well as the Morganza spillway. It should help to reduce the volume in the river, but it's going to wreak havoc on Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, and Lake Borgne. The shrimpers and people that tend the oyster beds at the mouth of the lakes are seriously pissed off about the Corp opening these. Also, we'll probably put some Viv pics later tonight and maybe some video.

In other news, my laptop is back up and running with a fresh linux install and is working great.
